Cord is an incredibly simple, incredibly fast voice messaging app for iOS that lets you chat with one friend or shout to a whole group of friends. You can save the messages you love but the rest will disappear. It’s a whole new way to talk on your phone again.
Tap, don’t hold, on any message to play it.
To record a new message, press and hold the mic button on the bottom of your screen. After you finishing recording, you can select one or more contacts to send the message to. You can also preview your message before you send it by tapping your profile pic at the top of the contact select screen. When you’re ready to send, tap the arrow on the top right of your screen.
To reply to any message, just press and hold on that message to start recording instantly. When you release your finger, your message will be sent.
Send two or three. But keep it short, this isn’t voicemail!
Sending a message to multiple contacts is as fast as sending a regular message;
• First, record your message with the bottom mic button.
• Then, select all the contacts you want to send the message to (a little check mark will appear next to their name when they’re selected).
• Tapping ‘Everyone’ in your contact list will select all of your contacts.
• Tap the arrow icon in the top right of your screen to send your message.
Sending a message to two or more people works kind of like SnapChat or a BCC in email. The people who get it won’t know who or how many people it was sent to.
It’s easy to send a message to someone who doesn’t have Cord (yet);
• Start by recording a message with the mic button at the bottom of your screen.
• Tap ‘Send to anyone’ in the contact list and we’ll give you a few options to send that link to your friends.
You could text or email your message or even post the link to Facebook or Twitter to share with even more friends. Whoever you send the link to will be able to listen to your message on any phone or computer without installing Cord. One last thing, messages sent as links are on the public web, so anyone that gets the link can listen to your message.
Yes, you can save as many messages as you want. To save a message tap the heart icon in the top left of your screen while the message is playing. This adds the message to your favorites. When you save (or favorite) a message we let the sender know that you liked what they sent!
*Coming soon on Android* Yes, you can delete messages that you've received. To delete a message, tap the delete icon in the top right of your screen while that message is playing. Be careful. There's no undo!
Messages you’ve sent appear in your recent activity. Just tap the little clock icon in the bottom left of your screen to bring up your recent activity.
It’s easy to post a message on Facebook. Here's how;
• Start by recording a message with the mic button at the bottom of your screen.
• Tap ‘Send to anyone’ in the contact list
• Then, if your phone is connected to Facebook, tap the Facebook Icon.
• Now you can share a link to your message on Facebook.
You can create a Cord account after you download and install the app on iOS. Launch Cord and select ‘Get started’. Then simply follow the on screen prompts.
At the moment, your username and phone number aren’t editable. You can change your display name, the name we show your contacts most often, to anything you’d like in your settings.
Tap the more (...) icon on the bottom right of your screen, then tap Me. This is where you’ll find all your account settings. To change your profile picture tap your current picture and then follow the on screen instructions.
We might sing you a song, but it's optional.
If you selected to sync your address book when you signed up all of your friends that also use Cord will automatically be added to your Cord contacts list. To add more friends, go to your Contacts list and tap the + button in the top right. From here you can add friends by entering their username or invite friends that don’t have Cord yet.
The best way to invite a friend is with a voice message! It’s easy to send a message to someone who doesn’t have Cord (yet):
• Start by recording a message with the mic button at the bottom of your screen.
• Tap ‘Send to anyone’ in the contact list and we’ll give you a few options to send that link to your friends.
You could text or email your message or even post the link to Facebook or Twitter to share with even more friends. Whoever you send the link to will be able to listen to your message on any phone or computer without installing Cord. One last thing, messages sent as links are on the public web, so anyone that gets the link can listen to your message.
If you need to delete someone here’s how;
• Tap the more icon (...) in the bottom right of your screen to access your contact list.
• Tap any contact to view their details.
• At the bottom of a contacts info you’ll see a ‘Remove contact’ link.
• You can also swipe to the left on any contact in your contacts list to reveal the option to remove that contact.
• Tap remove and then confirm this action.
Remember, removing a contact does not remove you from their contact list too, they might still be able to send you messages. Completely blocking a user will be coming in an update very soon. You can add a contact you’ve previously deleted by tapping the + icon at the top of the contacts list, selecting add by username, and typing in their username.
Basically, you just need to log in with your phone number and then sync your social account. Here’s the step by step;
• First, log out by going to ‘Me’ and then ‘More settings’.
• Now log back in with your phone number.
• Once you’re logged in go to your contacts list and hit the + button in the top right.
• Then sync Facebook or Google+ (whichever account you logged in with before).
This will link your Facebook account to your original account. You can now log in with either your phone number or social account.
